An Authorizer’s role is to ensure quality education and public trust. A low level of political engagement requires charter advocates to constantly be on the defensive. There are statutory requirements for charter school websites on the information that should be present on the site. Schools are required to pay authorizers money for services. Authorizers do not directly impact the staff that schools hire, therefore complicating the accountability piece for both authorizers and schools. Student success is the main goal of the authorization process and authorizers hold schools accountable to deliver the best product possible for kids.
